Available Visa Types for Austrian Citizens

Austrian citizens have options including the International Experience Canada (IEC) Working Holiday category and the Express Entry system for skilled migration. Canada and Austria share a spirit of partnership, making the migration process transparent.

Main Work Routes

IEC (Working Holiday)

Allows Austrians (18-30) to work and travel for up to 1 year. This is an open work permit. Quotas are limited, so early profile creation is advised.

Express Entry

A points-based system (CRS) for management, professional, and technical jobs. Excellent for those with several years of work experience and university degrees.

LMIA Work Permits

For those who have already found an employer who can prove they couldn't find a Canadian worker for the position.

General Requirements

Valid Austrian Passport
Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)
Language proficiency in English (IELTS) or French (TEF)
No criminal record (Police certificates from Austria)
Proof of settlement funds (approx. $2,500 CAD for IEC)

Typical Process

Create an IRCC Account

Visit the IRCC website to create a profile and submit it to the pool of candidates.

Invitation to Apply (ITA)

Wait for an invitation round. If selected, you have a limited time to submit your full application.

Application & Biometrics

Submit all documents online and book an appointment for fingerprinting and a photo (biometrics) at a collection point.

Visa/Permit Issuance

Once approved, you will receive a Port of Entry (POE) Letter of Introduction to present to Canadian border services.
