Available Visa Types for Austrian Citizens

Austrian citizens have access to the Working Holiday Visa, the Employment Gold Card, and standard Work Visas. Taiwan offers a dynamic environment with specific incentives for high-level European talent.

Main Work Routes

Employment Gold Card

For highly skilled professionals in science, technology, economics, culture, or arts. A combined work permit and residence card with broad benefits.

Standard Work Visa

Requires a job offer from a sponsor company in Taiwan. The company must apply for a Work Permit for the employee through the MOL.

Working Holiday

Allows Austrians (18-30) to work and travel for 1 year. Annual quota: 100 places. Great for cultural exchange and gaining local experience.

Confirmed Academic Degree (legalized by the Taiwan mission)
Work Permit issued by the Ministry of Labor
Health Examination Certificate
ARC (Alien Resident Certificate) registration within 15 days

Typical Process

Secure Work Permit

Your host employer in Taiwan applies for the work permit from the Ministry of Labor (MOL).

Visa Application in Vienna

Submit your Resident Visa application to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Vienna.

Enter & NIA Registration

Enter Taiwan. Visit the National Immigration Agency (NIA) to apply for your physical ARC card.

Collect ARC

Once ready, collect your ARC which acts as your primary ID card for health insurance and essential services in Taiwan.
