Professional & Skilled Pathways for Austrian Citizens
A comprehensive guide for Austrian citizens wishing to live and work in the UK post-Brexit.
Since Brexit, there is no automatic right to work for Austrians in the UK. There is no Youth Mobility / Working Holiday scheme for Austria. The primary route is the Skilled Worker Visa, which requires a job offer from a licensed UK employer. Alternatively, the High Potential Individual (HPI) visa is available for graduates of top global universities. Standard visits for tourism/meetings are visa-free for up to 6 months.
Requires a job offer from a licensed sponsor, a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS), and meeting salary requirements.
For those who graduated from a top-50 global university in the last 5 years. No job offer needed to apply.
A fast-track, low-fee visa for medical professionals with a job offer in the NHS or social care sector.
Apply for roles in the UK. The employer must be a licensed sponsor and willing to issue a CoS.
Submit your visa application on GOV.UK. You'll need your CoS reference number and proof of English.
Pay the IHS (£1,035/year for most workers) and the visa fee based on your job type and stay length.
Use the 'UK Immigration: ID Check' app to scan your passport, or attend a visa center if the app doesn't support you.
