Available Visa Types for Canadian Citizens

Canadian citizens can apply for the Working Holiday Visa, Red-White-Red Card, or EU Blue Card. Canadians aged 18-35 are eligible for the Working Holiday program.

Main Work Routes

Red-White-Red Card

The points-based migration system for skilled workers. Criteria include education, work experience, age, and language proficiency.

Working Holiday

For Canadian citizens aged 18-35. Allows you to work and travel for up to a year. Provides an excellent way to experience life in Austria.

EU Blue Card

For highly qualified workers with a university degree and a salary offer exceeding a specific threshold (approx. €66,000+).

Typical Process

Application Submission

Submit your application for the RWR Card at the Austrian Embassy in Ottawa.

AMS Points Check

The Austrian Public Employment Service (AMS) reviews your qualifications and the labor market conditions.

Visa D / Arrival

If approved, you receive a Visa D for entry. Canadians can also enter visa-free to finalize the process.

Collection of Card

Collect your RWR residence permit from the provincial authority in Austria upon your arrival.
