Available Visa Types for Canadian Citizens

Canadian citizens can apply for the General Employment Policy (GEP), the Top Talent Pass Scheme (TTPS), and the Working Holiday Scheme. Hong Kong remains a key destination for Canadian professionals in finance, tech, and education.

Main Work Routes

TTPS

Top Talent Pass Scheme. For those earning HK$2.5M+ or graduates from the world's top 100 universities. Allows entry without a job offer for 2 years.

GEP (Employment)

General Employment Policy. For professionals with specialized skills. Requires a job offer with a salary at prevailing market rates.

Working Holiday

Allows Canadians (18-30) to work and travel for 1 year. Annual quota: 200 places. Requires proof of funding (approx HK$25,000).

Bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized institution

Confirmed job offer with sponsorship (for GEP)

No criminal record or security objection

Financial proof (bank statements for the last 3 months)

E-Service Registration

Upload Documents

Upload clear scans of your passport, degree, CV, and employer's supporting documents (if applicable).

Approval Notification

Once approved, you will receive an "electronic visa" which you must download and print.

Entry & HKID Registration

Enter HK using the e-visa and book an appointment for your HKID card within 30 days of arrival.

Applications are handled online via the Hong Kong ImmD portal, but the Consulate in Toronto provides essential legalization of Canadian degrees and documents for use in Hong Kong.
