Information based on current research for Mainland China residents wishing to live and work in the Republic of Austria.
Mainland residents primarily utilize the Red-White-Red (RWR) Card and the EU Blue Card. Austria uses a points-based immigration system to attract skilled professionals from non-EU countries.
The core permit for skilled workers. Points-based system evaluating age, education, work experience, and language skills (German/English).
For highly qualified workers with a recognized university degree and a salary offer exceeding a specific threshold (approx. €66,000+).
For "Very Highly Qualified Workers" (70+ points) to stay in Austria for 6 months to find a job. Allows entry without a prior job offer.
Submit your application at the Austrian Embassy in Beijing or Consulates General (Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu).
The application is sent to Austria for point calculation and labor market review by the AMS.
Upon approval, you receive a Visa D entry visa from the Embassy/Consulate.
Collect your RWR residence permit card from the local authority in Austria after entering the country.
