Available Visa Types for Mainland Residents

Mainland residents primarily utilize the Express Entry system, the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), or the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (requiring an LMIA). Canada remains a top destination for Mainland professionals in healthcare, technology, and academia.

Main Work Routes

Express Entry

The federal points-based (CRS) system for skilled workers. It focuses on your age, education level, work history, and proficiency in English or French.

Provincial Nominee (PNP)

For skilled workers who have the education and skills to contribute to a specific province's economy. Each province has its own unique streams.

Work Permit (LMIA)

For those with a job offer from a Canadian employer. The employer must obtain a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) before the visa application.

General Requirements

Valid Passport of PR China

Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) for foreign degrees

Language proficiency results (IELTS Academic or General, TEF, or TCF)

Criminal record review (Chinese Police Certificate and Hukou)

Proof of settlement funds for permanent residency

Typical Process

ECA and Language Test

Obtain an ECA for your degrees and complete your IELTS/French language exams.

Submission to IRCC Pools

Submit your profile to the Express Entry or PNP pools. Wait for an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

Full Online Application

After receiving an ITA, submit a full permanent residence application with all digital documents and fess.

Biometrics and Final Review

Visit an authorized Visa Application Centre (VAC) in China (e.g., Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou) for biometrics. Collect your COPR on approval.
