Information based on current research for Mainland China residents wishing to live and work in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Available Visa Types for Mainland Residents

Mainland residents primarily utilize the Admission Scheme for Mainland Talents and Professionals (ASMTP), the Top Talent Pass Scheme (TTPS), and the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme (QMAS). These schemes aim to attract high-caliber professionals to strengthen Hong Kong's competitiveness.

Main Work Routes

TTPS

Top Talent Pass Scheme. For earners with HK$2.5M+ income or grads from top 100 global unis (9 core Mainland unis included). Allows 2 years entry without a job.

ASMTP (Employment)

Admission Scheme for Mainland Talents and Professionals. Professional employment. Requires a confirmed job offer and employer sponsorship.

IANG

Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates. For those who graduated from HK universities. Allows stay for 2 years to seek employment.

General Requirements

Valid Exit-Entry Permit (EEP) with endorsement
Bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized college
Confirmed Employment Offer (Market-rate salary)
No criminal record or Adverse reputation
Household registration (Hukou) status documentation

Typical Process

Online Application (ImmD)

Submit all documents via the HK Immigration Department's e-Services portal.

Assessment (4-8 weeks)

ImmD reviews the application. They assess the employer's viability and your qualifications.

E-Visa & EEP Endorsement

Once approved, download the e-visa. You MUST also apply for a 'D' (Employment) endorsement on your EEP from the Public Security Bureau (PSB) in the Mainland.

Entry & HKID Identification

Enter HK using both the e-visa and EEP. Register for your HKID card within 30 days of arrival.

Service Note

For Mainland residents, the dual-document requirement (ImmD e-visa + PSB EEP Endorsement) is mandatory to leave the Mainland for employment in Hong Kong.
