Professional & Skilled Work Pathways for Chinese Citizens
Information based on current research for applicants from Mainland China wishing to live and work in New Zealand.
Mainland Chinese citizens primarily apply under the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) and Specific Purpose Work Visa. Please note that there is currently no Working Holiday Scheme available for PRC passport holders.
The main work visa requiring the employer to be accredited and to have an approved Job Token for the position.
For short-term, specialized roles, professional engagements, or specific events in New Zealand.
Identify the correct visa route (usually AEWV) based on your job offer components.
Your NZ employer must provide a Job Token link before you can apply for the AEWV.
Register and apply online via Immigration New Zealand. Be prepared to upload numerous supporting documents.
Attend a NZVAC in Beijing, Shanghai, or Guangzhou for biometrics. Processing typically takes 3–8 weeks.
