Available Visa Types for Mainland Chinese Citizens

Mainland Chinese citizens primarily apply under the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) and Specific Purpose Work Visa. Please note that there is currently no Working Holiday Scheme available for PRC passport holders.

AEWV

The main work visa requiring the employer to be accredited and to have an approved Job Token for the position.

Specific Purpose

For short-term, specialized roles, professional engagements, or specific events in New Zealand.

General Requirements

Valid Passport (for full duration of stay)

Job offer from an accredited New Zealand employer

Authenticated qualifications & relevant experience

Full medical certificate (chest X-ray & exam)

Proof of financial means & good character checks

Typical Process

Determine Visa Type

Identify the correct visa route (usually AEWV) based on your job offer components.

Accredited Job Token

Your NZ employer must provide a Job Token link before you can apply for the AEWV.

Processing in China

Attend a NZVAC in Beijing, Shanghai, or Guangzhou for biometrics. Processing typically takes 3–8 weeks.
