Available Visa Types for New Zealand Citizens

New Zealand citizens can apply for the Youth Mobility Scheme, Skilled Worker Visa, or Global Talent Visa. New Zealanders aged 18-35 are eligible for the Youth Mobility Scheme with a stay of up to 3 years.

Visa Categories

Youth Mobility Scheme

For New Zealanders aged 18-35. Allows you to live and work in the UK for up to 3 years. One of the most flexible routes for young professionals.

Skilled Worker

Requires a job offer and sponsorship from a UK employer. Points-based system for skilled professions.

UK Ancestry Visa

For Commonwealth citizens with a UK-born grandparent. Stay for 5 years with full work rights.

Valid New Zealand Passport

Proof of Savings (£2,535)

No children under 18 living with you or for whom you're responsible

Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) payment

TB test (only if residing in specific high-risk areas recently)

Preparation Steps

Online Application

Submit your application via GOV.UK. You can apply up to 6 months before your intended flight.

Fees & IHS Levy

Pay the visa application fee (£298) and the health surcharge (£776 per year) for NHS access.

Biometrics Center

Book an appointment at a VFS Global center (Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch) to provide fingerprints.

Visa Issued

Approval takes about 3 weeks. You'll get a passport sticker (vignette) and collect your BRP in the UK.
